Neonates
Neonatal period is between the time of birth and the first 28 days of life. This period is important as a newborn has the highest risk of dying during this period. Congenital cardiac problems are one of the most common life threatening conditions encountered and about 50% of those with congenital cardiac defects may need intervention. The inicidence of congenital cardiac defects are about 8- 10 for every 1000 births. The common conditions requiring attention are Transposition of Great arteries(TGA), Total anomalous Pulmonary venous connection(TAPVC) , Duct dependent conditions and Coarctation.
